Just as an aside. When I have needed to get a more accurate tempo reading. I have used the free version of VirtualDJ (I think it is called VirtualDJ Home though I ended up buying the Pro version myself because I have other uses for it outside of beat detection for Logic) from the app store. I'm tryin to figure out the bpms of a beat I made. I threw a BPM Counter on the out 1-2 fader but it won't show me the BPMs. It just blinks, no matter what I do, no matter if I start or stop the song, it just blinks and never shows me a number. Nov 12, 2018  Match the tempo automatically in Logic Pro X. With Smart Tempo in Logic Pro 10.4, record a performance without the metronome and have Logic Pro adapt the project tempo to match the tempo of the recording. Or, keep the project tempo and flex the recording to match it.

Jan 26, 2018  The new version of Logic Pro X features smart tempo, which allows for automatic tempo detection across the entirety of a project. The update also comes with a variety of new plug-ins, sound. Indeed, Logic Pro X now includes a wealth of tempo-related functionality that offers flexibilities in both directions – whether you’re locking a range of different loops to a single tempo, for example, or trying to lock Logic’s tempo to the more elasticated grid of a real performance.

Sep 24, 2012  1.) Adjusting Tempo Using Beat Detection does not seem to be working for importing an MP3 and grabbing the tempo. For example I imported Michael Jackson's - Billie Jean, and used beat detection on it and Logic Suggested: 92.5466 with highest reliability, or 145, 128, 102, or 119 with less reliability. All of these are not accurate. /vestax-typhoon-virtual-dj-mapping-download.html.

Hi all, Steve H. goes into some of the many beat detection/beat mapping options in his tutorial Logic 304; Logic TNT 3; chapters 31 and 32. This method, I believe, can be used with any audio file, whether there is tempo information on it or not, or whether it was originally recorded with a click or not: http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/logic304 And also, another option not mentioned above that's good for tracks with varying tempos, from his Logic 201; Steve H's Logic Master Class; chapters 3, 4, and 7. http://www.macprovideo.com/tutorial/logic9201 Being a little old school in this regard, I personally like to estimate the tempo by listening, and then apply a click to see how close I am. I then adjust accordingly, (it's interesting how many tempos wind up going out several decimal places, like 107.0652, for example) or beat map if the original performance wasn't recorded to a click. Using Rounik's suggestion of using the 'Detect Tempo' function will usually get you close, and then you can fine tune from there. However, take note that the above mentioned chapters from Logic 304 shows how logic can find transients and beat map automatically. Pretty cool!
